Fall is the season to see Italy
The Italian harvest takes place in the Fall. Everything I heard while I was there suggested that this was THE BEST time of year to see Italy. I just got back from three months in Tuscany (Jan to May) and I recommend staying the hell away from Florence for any length of time.
