Be Live Hamaca, Dominican Republic
I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. It seemed that the rooms right at the beach were a little cleaner though our friend had a lizard wondering around. Our room had roaches, spiders, mosquitoes, ants, a broken light, broken window, holes in our bed sheets, and how can I forget the mildew smell. Best way to describe the room “Ghetto”.
The beach was great, the pool excellent, but the restaurants.. well lets just say I got food poisoning and I became extremely sick for two days then when our friends were at the buffet and witnessed roaches crawling around the food, and native birds helping themselves to the food, and all the flies joining them, it made a lot of sense as to why I might of became sick. The sad part of it all, is that I am a native Dominicana & I was looking forward to visiting this beautiful country of mine but OMG…I won’t go back to this resort again!

Unless you are willing to put up with a lot of inconvenience and much lower standards than we are used to in North America I would not advise you stay at this resort.
This resort may have been 4 star in its day but it has not been kept up. There seems to be no maintenance department whatsoever. The staff are not trained properly and so standards of cleanliness are not anywhere close to what we are used to. The pictures I have posted show this. The shower head hose was completely black, the door handles have not been cleaned in what looks like years, the floors have a rim of filth around the baseboards of about 2 inches that is built up caked on dirt that needs a good scrub, the sinks don’t drain, the sink plugs don’t work, the sliding patio doors don’t lock.
Everyone we spoke to had similar unacceptable concerns. This is a malarious area of the Dominican but there were a lot of mosquitoes in the ground floor rooms. There were no face cloths, one glass, only 2 towels, safe is key entry and must be paid for regardless of contract, no iron, lumpy pillows, no rugs or paintings anywhere and the room smelled of mold. The staff spoke little English, most of the waiters and guest services employees were surly and rude. We felt that most of them resented and were annoyed by regular customer requests, needs or concerns. Long line-ups for reservations, that were full by 9 am, to have a quiet well served meal.
The entertainment consisted of a group of about 10 dancers who were strong and very fit and who were great hip hop dancers but who did not have a lot of training. The timing was regularly way off, they mostly looked like they were struggling to keep up with the choreography and the routines were mostly very similar just with different costumes. The “comedy” sketches were incomprehensible, clownish and mostly awful. Audience members walked out regularly. But if you want to see giggling bare asses, there is a lot of it.
