Honeymoon in ABC Islands

We spent 6 nights in Aruba, 3 in Bonaire and 3 in Curacao.

Aruba was nice, but there are tons of honeymooners. So if its seclusion you are looking for, Aruba is not the island for you.

There are two main hotels areas. Eagle Beach is mostly low-rise buildings. A lot of Europeans stay at these hotels, and the beach is large and not crowded at all. We stayed at the new Tara Suites at the Bucuti and loved the relatively affordable luxury that it offered. I would definitely recommend this place for other honeymooners, but only if you can stay in a Tara Suite. Book early, because there aren’t that many and they fill up fast.

Palm Beach is where all of the “resorts” are. Again, no seclusion, as they are all right next to each other. If you want to stay at a Marriott or Hilton or Radisson, this is where they all are. Unfortunately this area is much farther from Oranjestad than Eagle Beach, so if you don’t have a car and want to go into town, cabs will be expensive.

Bonaire - We really loved it!! Much slower pace, much less expensive, and AMAZING for snorkeling and diving. One of the great things about it is that most of the dives can be easily done from shore, and the whole island is geared to make diving easy. I think this was our favorite island.

Curacao was nice, but very industrial. Willemstad (the capital) has lots of interesting history and architecture, but three days was enough for us.
