Tuscany Tips
You are already hitting some of the Italian coast and Cinque Terre is still recovering from floods so I would scratch that common destination off the list. Florence/Firenze is worth a stop of at least a couple days and I recommend the centrally located Hotel Europa as well as the Uffizi Gallery, the leather museum, the Duomo and the Plazza St Michelle on the other side of the river, would have gone to Fiezole if I had time.
Sienna and Lucca are two nearby walled cities I visited, both beautiful and not very touristed relative to Firenze/Rome. In Lucca I stayed at Palazzo Busdraghi, slightly nicer but more expensive than the other hotel I recommended.
